Description

Depiction with large central image of Buddha displaying him sitting in meditation holding his handns in the bhumisparsha mudra. It is surrounded by small images of the demons of Mara. As well the other seven events of the Buddha's life. The top displays the scene of the death and Parinirvāṇa of the Buddha. The right side of the stele shows from bottom to top the birth of the Buddha, the miracle of multiplication and the taming of the elephant Nalagiri. The other side displays the offering of honey, first sermon and the Buddha's descent from Tāvatiṃsa heaven.
